In Scotland we are incredibly fortunate to have Alan Tweedie on board who is part-time lecturer at The Borders College and is keen to promote GWT and its services around the country. Pictured below left. Alan says: "I have been involved in the gamekeeping industry for well over forty odd years and have seen many changes since I was young keeper back in the mid-seventies. Throughout that period, I worked on several estates building up my experience with pheasants, grouse and deer. During my entire keepering career I worked with and met many wonderful characters from the game shooting and stalking world and their expertise and knowledge has instilled me with a lifelong passion for our unique industry.

Alan Tweedie

Over the remaining years of my career working as a Lecturer at Borders College I have helped and guided many people from all walks of life into the keepering and stalking world therefore I am delighted to be given the opportunity to help further the wonderful work carried out by this exceptional charity".

Ruth Kerr is our fantastic Communications Manager who works tirelessly to keep everyone informed and up to date.

Ruth

Ruth says:

‘I’m a keeper’s daughter, originally from Dumfries & Galloway, and also lived on estates in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders with my family. I first became involved with GWT as a volunteer back in 2009 and now work several hours a week for them from my home in Hampshire. Most of my work is managing Facebook and Twitter, and I also support one or two other areas of work across the year as needed.

Ruth Benson who is married to a gamekeeper, runs her gundogs at a number of shoots picking up during the season. Ruth answers career and job related queries and runs the job register and sister recruiting website Rural Recruits.

Volunteers
