September 17

Date posted: September 7, 2017

As I write this note the trees are turning and the swallows on their way South with partridge in every hedgerow and pheasants awandering!

Grouse days have been fruitful and frustrating for nearby moors, with fog and muggy weather on some days and cool conditions on others.  Par for the course, but always good to be up in “them their hills”….

The Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust has had a busy year, with magnificent support from clay shoots, dog agility days, rifle shoot and other events round the country.  We are very grateful to all the organisations and individuals who have supported us as we continue to bang the drum and celebrate our 25th year.

It always amazes me how resilient people can be in the face of adversity, or indeed a constant onslaught of challenges from many quarters.  However we all need a little help along the way, whether from friends, family, colleagues or extended family – The Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust.

We have received  support from the family of Jamie Neal this year, whose family suffered the loss of a son and nephew when Jamie tragically took his own life.  To help others, Jamie’s family have given generous funds to ensure our helpline is there for anyone in need, whether for someone to talk to, to help or for information.  Thank you so much.

We are especially privileged this year to have been supported by Her Majesty The Queen in the Charity Clay Shoot organised by Holts Auctioneers at Sandringham.  Thank you very much  to everyone involved including our resident Trustee, David Clark Headkeeper at Sandringham.

We are turning our attention now to a number of evening meetings which are to be held in areas we did not reach during our Spring conference season.  If you would like us to arrange to come along to your area, do call us.

Thank you.

Helen

A New Year and a New Start!

Traditionally our new season in February marks a new start but a New Year does give us pause to reflect on our own lives and how we wish to live and work in the 21st Century whatever stage of life we find ourselves. There have been some excellent stories of making a difference to individual […]

April 21 – Happy 90th Birthday to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

It is truly remarkable that most of us cannot remember another monarch whilst we have lived and most of all are in awe at Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s immense energy and stamina which outstrips most of us at the best of times.  Duty, honour and trust are words which spring to mind and I hope that in […]
